Breaking: Top 3 Cities Revealed for Hosting 2027 Sundance Film Festival – Guess Who Made the Cut!

The Sundance Institute has revealed the three finalist cities vying to be the host of the Sundance Film Festival starting from 2027. The cities that have made it to the final round are Boulder in Colorado, Cincinnati, and a combined bid from Salt Lake City and Park City in Utah.

Atlanta, Louisville in Kentucky, and Santa Fe in New Mexico, have been excluded from the list of potential hosts.

Earlier this year, the Sundance Institute had hinted at the possibility of the festival moving away from its traditional home in Park City.

According to an official statement from the institute, the selection of the finalist cities was based on their alignment with the institute’s ethos and equity values, infrastructure, and their capacity to host the Festival. These cities were also expected to show how they could continue to nurture the diverse Sundance community and inspire future generations of independent filmmakers.

In a public statement, Eugene Hernandez, the festival director and head of public programming at Sundance, said, “As we forge ahead in our search for a long-term location for the Sundance Film Festival, we believe Boulder, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake/Park City offer great potential. Each city has demonstrated a combination of possibilities, values, and logistics required to host a dynamic, welcoming, and inclusive Festival. We are looking forward to a future Sundance that continues to discover, support, and inspire artists and audiences for many decades to come.”

The final decision on the new host city will be announced by the institute after the conclusion of the 2025 festival in Park City.
