E-commerce giant Flipkart inaugurated its first green data center in Telangana capital, Hyderabad. Though the company hasn’t disclosed much about the investment, sources from the industry state it to be of more than Rs 200 crores.
As per Flipkart, this new facility is designed to be a tier-4 data center. Besides, it is one of the most energy efficient data centers in India having low power usage effectiveness (PUE). The data center has been constructed in collaboration with CtrlS.
Flipkart said that the data center is a part of the biggest private cloud deployment in India. it will help to strengthen the company’s expanding marketplace among the e-commerce business in the country. Apart from this, the data center will also help improve Flipkart’s ability to acquire more number of sellers as well as MSMEs and meet the demands of more consumers across the nation.
Jayesh Ranjan, Telangana Principal Secretary IT inaugurated the new data center along with Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart. Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS CEO was also present for the inauguration.
The data center is developed for elasticity, multi-zone resilience and security sale along with Flipkart designed intelligent power and cooling, racks as well as customized hardware for storage, AI, computing.
Notably, this is the company’s second data center in India and the first one in the state of Telangana.
