In New Mexico’s primary elections on Tuesday, incumbent District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, who is pursuing an involuntary manslaughter charge against actor Alec Baldwin, managed to fend off a Democratic opponent.
In Santa Fe, Mary Carmack-Altwies, the current District Attorney, proved victorious over former District Attorney Marco Serna. The special prosecutors in the area are in the process of preparing to put Baldwin on trial.
The District Attorney has pledged to hold Baldwin responsible for the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was fatally shot by the actor during the filming of the movie “Rust” in 2021.
Given the area’s strong Democratic leanings, Carmack-Altwies is highly likely to secure reelection in the November polls.
