Final Shock in Star Trek Discovery: Unbelievable End After 5 Seasons – Find Out Now!

It’s curtains for Star Trek Discovery after an epic 5-year voyage in space and back-to-back missions. So, how does it all end for Michael and her crew?

This week, Paramount+ added the final episode of Star Trek Discovery season 5 to its catalog, wrapping up the Progenitor storyline. But, it also marked the end of the series. As explained in this article, the studio made the decision to cancel the sci-fi series after a 5-year run, prompting the crew to return to the studio to film the conclusion. So, is it any good?

Back to Star Trek’s Roots

In the 10th episode of season 5, the Discovery crew faces multiple threats: they’re under direct attack from the Breens and need to buy time for Michael (Sonequa Martin-Green) to escape from the enigmatic structure where the Progenitors’ power resides.

The spaceship’s captain then stumbles upon a strange and technologically advanced world. After a fight with Moll (Eve Harlow), which results in her surrendering, the two women follow the clues and find a control screen. Thanks to the various tests she undertook during her previous missions, Michael manages to crack the code and meet one of its creators.

She learns that she is the chosen one and can wield an unprecedented power and technology, capable of both creating and destroying life. This same technology is responsible for creating the entire Star Trek universe, its abundant and diverse planets, and its civilizations.

Not wanting to leave such power in human hands, she decides to get rid of it. Back on the ship, she finds out that Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) and his crew have dispatched the Breens to far-off reaches of the galaxy. Another successful mission for Discovery!

It’s time to celebrate for the Starfleet members who attend the wedding of Saru (Doug Jones) and President T’Rina. It’s also an opportunity for Book (David Ajala) and Michael to once again profess their love for each other, and embark on a new mission together, steered by Dr. Kovitch.

The series finale reveals a big surprise: the character played by David Cronenberg is actually Agent Daniels…from the USS Enterprise! He’s the same character portrayed by Matt Winston in the series that aired between 2001 and 2005.

Passing the Torch

Fast forward a few decades and we find an older, graying Michael. Now retired and living a peaceful life with Book, she has a son who’s about to become a Captain. It’s her chance to share some valuable advice and reminisce about her good old days on Discovery. We also learn that Tilly continues to teach at the Academy.

Michael is about to embark on her final mission aboard Discovery. She has to take her ship into the deepest corners of the universe where it will either be destroyed or reshaped (it’s not clear which). So, it’s Admiral Michael who boards the ship alone and reminisces about the past years with Zora.

While the fate of other characters remains unknown, viewers get to say their goodbyes to Discovery, which is given a guard of honor on this occasion.
