A live-action adaptation of the renowned early 2000s cartoon, Avatar: The Last Airbender is the latest original series from Netflix. Following in the footsteps of One Piece, this new show that draws inspiration from a cherished animated series has seemingly managed to captivate audiences worldwide.
The narrative follows the journey of Aang, a young air master and the newly chosen Avatar capable of controlling all four elements. Awoken from a century-long ice slumber during which his people were completely wiped out, the young boy can count on the support of his friends Katara and Sokka to restore balance and end the brutal reign of the Fire Nation.

An adventure and action story, filled with humor and a variety of emotions, Avatar is the kind of show that leaves no one unaffected. Thanks to its stunning special effects and flawless cast, the series has easily climbed the ranks of Netflix’s new hits. It’s fair to say that subscribers are eagerly awaiting the next installment!
While no filming date for season 2 has been announced, there’s an immediate way to continue the journey of The Last Airbender. Netflix also holds the broadcasting rights to the animated series that heavily influenced the live-action version.
Nickelodeon
The most eager fans have the opportunity, if they wish, to continue Aang’s adventures right away. The original animated series, which aired on Nickelodeon, consists of 61 episodes spread across three seasons.
In regard to the growth of the main actors of Avatar, the series’ showrunner Albert Kim suggested necessary timeline adjustments to our colleagues at Entertainment Weekly.
While the animated series’ timeline is continuous, planned time jumps between different seasons will explain the physical changes in the actors. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long to see the upcoming seasons of this hit series!
