Episode 6 of “Wednesday” Season 2 has taken a wild turn, causing quite a stir among the series’ fans.
Warning, spoilers ahead! This article reveals key elements of the plot of Wednesday’s Season 2. If you haven’t seen it and don’t want to know the details, stop reading now.
The second part of the second season of Wednesday is intense, very intense. It’s in episode 6 that we finally get to see the much-awaited appearance of Lady Gaga. And her brief cameo is enough to stir up chaos! The superstar plays the spirit of Rosaline Rotwood, a deceased former teacher of Nevermore. Dressed in white, with platinum hair and eyebrows, she appears ethereally as Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) visits her grave in hopes of regaining her lost psychic powers.
But this supernatural encounter goes awry: when Enid (Emma Myers) interrupts the ceremony – with Wednesday’s spirit being projected into a vision with Rotwood – the two roommates end up trapped in each other’s bodies, in a Freaky Friday twist! This utterly insane twist turns the episode into a sequence of hilarious and touching scenes.
But it’s right from the beginning that we’re hit with this unexpected reversal. The episode opens with Wednesday, all smiles, dressed and made up like Enid, starting a happy dance and strolling through the halls and courtyard of Nevermore Academy. Naturally, everyone watches her in a mix of shock and dismay. The viewer, lacking context, is equally baffled by the scene, which only makes it funnier!
The Body Swap that Flips Everything
Rosaline warns the girls that they must reverse the swap before dawn or they will both die. In the meantime, they must save little Agnes (Evie Templeton) who has followed Tyler and his dysfunctional family and might end up in serious danger.
The most insane moment? Wednesday uses Enid’s werewolf abilities since she is “trapped” in her body… A totally surreal scene with Enid – in Wednesday’s body, are you following? – watching her in complete shock.
After months of not saying what they really feel, the two friends finally understand each other thanks to this unique experience. Even though everything ends well – except that Wednesday’s premonition changes and predicts that an Addams must die – the episode unsurprisingly brings joy and great excitement on social media. Here are some highlights.
A Stroke of Genius
Admittedly, we didn’t see this body swap plot coming, a risky narrative device if used poorly, but here, it works perfectly. Enid and Wednesday are so different in terms of appearance and personality that it’s truly delightful to watch the actresses play each other’s role. And, of course, the fans loved it!
“People who hate this scene and find it cringeworthy are lacking any excitement and joy in their life because this was one of the best parts of season 2.“
“The body swap is definitely one of my favorite moments of Wednesday Season 2. Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers absolutely nailed it, the way they imitated each other’s mannerisms was just insanely good.“
