On Saturday, BCCI Ombudsman Justice (Retd) DK Jain cricketers has asked cricketers KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya to pay a fine of Rs. 20 lakh each for making crass comments while attending famous television chat show, Koffee With Karan (KWK).
As per the final verdict, which is published on the official website of BCCI, no other action shall be taken against Rahul and Pandhya, who had previously missed 5 ODIs while they served provisional suspension. Besides, he has also ordered the two to tender an unconditional apology for making sexiest comments on women.
Jain has asked the two players to pay Rs. 1 lakh each towards the deserving widows of ten paramilitary constables who died while serving their duty. Apart from this, the Ombudsman has also asked the two World Cup-bound players to pay Rs 10 lakh each in the fund which the Cricket Association for the Blind created.
In his order, Jain said he has no hesitation in noting that the remarks the players made did offends the sensitiveness that ‘ought to have been avoided’.
All the payments are supposed to be made within 4 weeks, starting from 19 April, 2019 (the date of order). If in case the players fail to make the payment, the BCCI might deduct the fine amount from the match fees paid to them.
