Shocking! Lupita Nyong’o May Quit ‘Black Panther’ Over Heartbreaking Chadwick Boseman Loss!

Lupita Nyong’o continues to grapple with the loss of Chadwick Boseman, her co-star from “Black Panther”, who passed away in 2020. She is not afraid to face her grief head-on.

During a Q&A session at the BFI London Film Festival on Sunday, Nyong’o, an Academy Award recipient, tearfully discussed her late co-star. The session, which focused on Nyong’o’s professional journey, included snippets from some of her most notable works, including the 2018 Marvel superhero film. “I must confess, I haven’t watched the movie since Chadwick passed away, so I’m having a moment right now,” Nyong’o confessed to the session’s moderator, Grace Barber-Plentie, as per a video shared by People.

After composing herself, Nyong’o went on to express her emotions. “Grief is essentially love that doesn’t have a place to go,” she said, wiping away her tears. Despite Barber-Plentie suggesting they move on to the next clip, Nyong’o insisted on continuing the discussion on the subject.

“I don’t avoid the tears or the sorrow, you see? You just live with it,” she added, as per another video posted by the Hollywood Reporter. “The experience will always be intertwined with the love that was cultivated.”

Boseman passed away on Aug. 28, 2020, following a private battle with colon cancer. He was 43 years old. In “Black Panther,” Nyong’o played Nakia, the love interest of Boseman’s character T’Challa. On the fourth anniversary of Boseman’s death, she paid tribute to the star of movies like “42” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.

“Grief is ceaseless. But it evolves. It is a journey, not a final destination. Grief is not a sign of frailty, nor a lack of faith. It’s the cost of love,” Nyong’o wrote in her Instagram tribute, quoting an anonymous source. “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Eternally.”

Just days after speaking to Harper’s Bazaar about a different kind of heartbreak, Nyong’o discussed her relationship with Boseman at the BFI. She confirmed to the magazine in an interview published on Wednesday that she is currently single, less than a year after sparking dating rumors with Joshua Jackson, a “Dawson’s Creek” veteran. She mentioned that her pet cat, Yoyo, whom she adopted after overcoming her fear of cats for “A Quiet Place: Day One,” has been instrumental in helping her deal with the breakup – which appears to be her second in a year.

“If I’m ever fortunate enough to be in another romantic relationship, it will be because of him,” she said referring to her feline friend.

“I was prepared to close that chapter and seal it tight. But he has made sure my heart stays open.”
