Shocking Split! JLo Dumps Ben Affleck After Just 2 Years of Marriage – Find Out Why!

It’s the end of the road for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s romantic relationship—once more.

On Tuesday, Lopez officially filed for divorce from the Academy Award-winning actor and director of “Argo”, in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, according to legal documents obtained by The Times. The duo had marked their two-year wedding anniversary on July 17 in Nevada, and the divorce filing coincided with the two-year anniversary of their nuptial ceremony in Georgia.

The Times reached out to representatives for both Lopez and Affleck for comment but received no immediate response.

The question of whether Lopez and Affleck had a prenuptial agreement remains unanswered, as reported first by TMZ, which broke the news of their breakup this Tuesday.

There had been numerous indications in the recent past that the couple’s relationship was on the rocks. People magazine reported on May 17 that they were living separately, and then on May 22, they cited an “exclusive source” saying that the couple’s marriage was currently “not in the best place”.

A noticeable difference in the couple’s lifestyle and approach to life was repeatedly mentioned. A source revealed to People in May that “Ben dislikes all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable”, while “Jennifer has always adopted a different approach”. By early June, TMZ had reported that the couple’s multi-million-dollar mansion, boasting 24 bathrooms, had been discreetly up for sale for a few weeks and that a divorce was “imminent”. The mansion was publicly listed in July.

In other developments, Affleck purchased a $20.5 million L.A. house on the occasion of Lopez’s 55th birthday last month, which some speculated could be easily converted into a bachelor pad.

During the July Fourth holiday weekend, the couple spent their time on opposite coasts; Affleck was in L.A., while Lopez was in New York’s Hamptons.

Lopez’s ninth and latest album, “This Is Me … Now,” and its accompanying film released earlier this year heavily leaned on her reignited relationship with Affleck. However, the planned summer tour for the album was canceled before it even started amidst rumors of low ticket sales and relationship troubles. The cancellation left Lopez “devastated”, and she decided to take some time off to spend with her children, family, and close friends, as mentioned in her fan newsletter.

The couple initially met back in 2002 on the set of the movie “Gigli”, during which time Lopez was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd. But when Lopez was found kissing Affleck at her surprise birthday party, she filed for divorce from Judd two days later.

Affleck proposed to Lopez in November 2002 with a $2.5 million pink diamond ring. However, they called off their September wedding on the day they were slated to exchange vows, citing the media frenzy surrounding their relationship. By January, it was announced that “Bennifer” was officially no more.

The next 18 years saw them with different partners; Lopez married singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014 and was engaged to former New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez between 2019 and 2021. Affleck, on the other hand, was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. Affleck and Garner, the parents of three children, have maintained a friendly relationship and even co-parented with Lopez, who has twins with Anthony.

But it seemed like destiny had other plans for the power couple. The duo was seen together again in 2021 and announced their second engagement in 2022 after Affleck proposed with a massive green ring in a bubble bath. They exchanged vows in Las Vegas later that year and seemed to relish embodying the best of early-2000s nostalgia, until divorce rumors started swirling this spring, right before Lopez called off her summer tour.

Lopez opened up about her and Affleck’s 2004 split under extreme media pressure in a February interview with Variety, “We lost our identity and had to part ways because we didn’t know how to handle it. I needed to rediscover myself, and he needed to do the same.”

It appears that they may have finally figured things out together, and the conclusion is, “apart”.
