Sci-Fi’s New Starlet is Daughter of THIS Iconic TV Hero – You Won’t Believe Who!

28-year-old Sydney Chandler is the leading lady of the much-anticipated series “Alien: Earth” on Disney+. This rising star isn’t a stranger to the industry though: she is the daughter of Kyle Chandler, best known for his unforgettable role as Coach Taylor on “Friday Night Lights”.

Sydney Chandler is the current sensation, thanks to Alien: Earth! However, she grew up under the influence of her father, Kyle Chandler, a prominent figure on our screens. Kyle Chandler left a significant mark on American television with his role as Coach Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights, a cult series that reshaped the teen drama genre from 2006 to 2011. He also starred in Bloodline, Catch-22, and more recently in films like Manchester by the Sea.

Born on February 13, 1996, and raised near Austin, Texas, Sydney lived a relatively low-profile life. Unlike many celebrity children, she did not seek to leverage her family’s fame early on.

A Modest But Notable Beginning

Sydney Chandler made her screen debut in 2016 with a small role in the independent comedy, The Golden Rut, followed by a guest appearance on the series SKAM Austin in 2019. However, it was in 2022 that she gained wider recognition with three projects that introduced her to a broader audience.

First, in the miniseries Pistol directed by Danny Boyle, where she portrayed a young Chrissie Hynde, the legendary singer of The Pretenders. This noteworthy performance showcased her acting abilities in a challenging biographical role. The same year, she landed a role in Don’t Worry Darling directed by Olivia Wilde, starring alongside Florence Pugh and Harry Styles.

A Rapidly Advancing Career

In 2024, Sydney proved her potential with Sugar on Apple TV+, opposite Colin Farrell. She portrayed Olivia Siegel, the missing granddaughter of a Hollywood producer whom the private detective played by Farrell is tasked to find. This darker role hinted at her future casting in Alien: Earth.

Today, with Alien: Earth, Sydney Chandler steps into a challenging role: she plays Wendy, a hybrid—the first synthetic being with human consciousness, specifically that of a 12-year-old girl.

A complex character who is set to follow in the footsteps of the iconic Ellen Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver. It’s a massive challenge for this 28-year-old actress who seems to have inherited her father’s natural charisma.

Alien: Earth is available on Disney+ since August 13.
