Netflix Drops a Bombshell Political Thriller: After Zero Day & Hostage, You Won’t Believe What’s Next!

Today is a celebration on Netflix as season 3 of “The Diplomat”, the political thriller featuring Keri Russell, makes its debut.

Remember the end of season 2 of The Diplomat, with its cliffhanger reminiscent of 24? Season 3 picks up right where it left off, a few moments after the sudden death of President Rayburn.

The stakes for Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) are certainly higher. “Season 3 flips the script,” says series creator Debora Cahn in a Tudum interview. “In season 3, Kate experiences the unique nightmare of getting what she wants,” or almost… as usual, the series has a bunch of surprises in store, but we won’t give anything away!

What will happen in season 3 of The Diplomat?

At the start of season 3 of The Diplomat, Kate has accused Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of plotting a terrorist conspiracy and has admitted that she aspires to the vice-presidential position. But now, the president is dead, Kate’s husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell), may have accidentally killed him, and Grace Penn is now leading the free world.

None of this slows down Hal’s campaign to secure the vice presidency for Kate. And to make things more complex, Kate must also navigate a growingly complicated friendship with Foreign Minister Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) and gets acquainted with First Gentleman Todd Penn, played by Bradley Whitford who reunites with Allison Janney, his co-star from The West Wing.

The entire season revolves around the new administration established by Grace Penn and the impact it will have on Kate and even her marriage… Eight thrilling episodes are now available for your viewing pleasure.
