Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind successful television shows, is ending yet another series. A year after Yellowstone, another of his popular creations, Mayor of Kingstown, is set to conclude. Paramount+ has recently announced that the show will end after its fifth season.
Sheridan’s Longest-Running Series Still on Air
Mayor of Kingstown, a thriller that blends crime and political drama, is currently the oldest show by Sheridan still running after Yellowstone ended. It features Jeremy Renner as the lead character, who manages a powerful clan in Michigan. He must navigate his relations with the criminals he deals with, as well as the police force, which includes his younger brother, Kyle.
Sheridan’s signature elements are all present in Mayor of Kingstown: gritty characters, engaging storylines with plot twists, and sharp dialogue. Despite the series’ success, it has been decided to conclude its narrative with a final season.
Other Sheridan Series Might Conclude Soon
This decision might be influenced by budget constraints, hinted at by the reduction of the fifth season to eight episodes, down from ten in the previous seasons. Financial considerations have also led Sheridan to leave Paramount and join NBCUniversal group when his contract expires in 2028.
This has caused concern among fans about the future of his other successful series. However, Landman, Tulsa King, and Lioness: Special Operations have all been renewed for additional seasons. It is rare, though, for series to surpass five seasons, and there’s no doubt that the conclusion of Mayor of Kingstown will meet audience expectations.
