Talk about a lethal trio and Miley, Ariana and Lana aren’t the names that pop up in your mind. But this Friday the unthinkable happened. Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey dropped the music video of their song “Don’t Call me Angel”.
The song is the soundtrack for the movie Charlie’s Angels. And the movie releases on 15th of November. It stars Kristen Stewart as Sabina Wilson, Naomi Scott as Elena Houghlin, Ella Balinska as Jane Kano.
Charlie’s Angels is directed by Elizabeth Banks, who makes a cameo in the music video of “Don’t Call me Angel”. Also she is the producer of the movie, and has done the screenplay herself.
Lana Del Ray’s genre is mostly baroque pop and dream pop. Her collaboration with Miley and Ariana is a surprise. But it takes the song to a different level.
“Don’t Call me Angel” music video has the three singers playing secret agents, like the three actors in the movie. The video is a treat to watch because of the beautiful singers running around wearing wings.
But the viewers find the lyrics not too great. Given the level of these extremely talents singers, audience expected a treat. While some fans are happy that these three collaborated, some think it’s a disaster and Lana’s part is the saving grace.
Some even speculate that Miley Cyrus’ part is about her recent break up with Liam Hemsworth. And her part says – “Don’t call me angel when I’m a mess, “Don’t call me angel when I get undressed. You know I, I don’t like that, boy. I make my money, and I write the checks, so say my name with a little respect.”
Lana’s slow and dreamy part in the music video gives the song an ethereal feel while still sending out the edgy vibe.
The lyrics might be a little too common and repetitive, but the energy of the song might make it a good soundtrack for Charlie’s Angels.
