Combining elements of romance and fantasy, it delves into love that transcends time, filled with buried memories and intertwined destinies: we’re talking about “I’ll Meet You in My Next Life”, the ethereal, nostalgic, and timeless drama.
From her first reincarnation, Ban Ji-eum (Shin Hye-sun) perfectly remembers all her past lives. After living almost a thousand years, her 18th life – where she was called Yoon Joo-won and was close to a young boy named Moon Seo-ha – is abruptly ended by a tragic accident. She then decides to dedicate her next life to finding Moon Seo-ha (Ahn Bo-hyun), who is now an adult.
Based on a webtoon of the same name written by Lee Hye, “I’ll Meet You in My Next Life” (also known as its English title See You in My 19th Life) initially captivated the Korean audience on the local tvN channel in 2023, before winning the hearts of the world on Netflix.
And the series has a lot of heart to give. It charms with its ability to skillfully blend romance, fantasy, mystery, and deep emotional drama. What sets it apart from the many screen romances is its unique concept: that of fully conscious reincarnation. Indeed, the heroine remembers all her past lives, a starting point that leads to a sensitive reflection on time, memory, loss, regret, and love that transcends eras.

But be aware, the show doesn’t just capitalize on its original idea: it enhances it with careful narration, delicate staging, and an atmosphere where every visual detail serves the emotion. Not to mention the performance of Shin Hye-sun (Still 17, Mr. Queen, Return to Samdal-ri) in the main role that brings true depth to the character of Ban Ji-eum, who is resilient, funny, and tragically human. Opposite her, Ahn Bo-hyun (Itaewon Class, Descendants of the Sun, My Name) portrays a wounded man, locked in his past pains, who slowly opens up to others, creating a subtly romantic but captivating tension.
