At the age of 83, Harrison Ford is enjoying a successful run on television, with standout performances in the series 1923 (a two-season prequel to Yellowstone) and Shrinking, a dramatic comedy that earned him an Emmy nomination this year.
To get Ford acquainted with Jason Segel’s work, screenwriter Bill Lawrence suggested that Ford watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall, a semi-autobiographical comedy that Segel wrote and starred in.
Those who have seen the movie will recall a scene where Segel appears completely naked in an unexpected moment. This scene seems to have left a significant impression on Harrison Ford, as humorously retold by Jason Segel.
Harrison Ford found the scene amusing
Shortly after watching the movie, Harrison Ford texted Bill Lawrence agreeing to join the series and humorously added, “Tell the kid he has a great d**k.” Ford also shared this story during an appearance on The Stephen Colbert Show, confirming its authenticity.
Shrinking, to recap, is about a grieving therapist (Segel) who starts breaking the rules and telling his patients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and professional ethics, he ends up affecting the lives of those around him, including his colleague Paul Rhoades (Ford).
The series Shrinking, currently with two seasons, is now available on AppleTV+.
