A brief scene in the first episode of “Daryl Dixon” season 3 helped the series “The Walking Dead” avoid a major time inconsistency.
The third season of Daryl Dixon has just started airing. After two seasons spent in France, Daryl and Carol attempted to return to America from England, but things didn’t go as planned, and now they’re embarking on a new adventure… in Spain!
A Quick Visit to London
During their brief English getaway, the two main characters encountered a man (Stephen Merchant), who introduced himself as the last survivor remaining in London. He was of great help in guiding them, providing numerous tips on navigating the city via the rooftops.
His system also allows him access to the interiors of Buckingham Palace. He then tells Daryl and Carol that he has slept in the queen’s bed, and even encountered her wandering the castle’s corridors. A grim nod, but it raises the following question: why the queen, and not King Charles III?
It All Started in 2010
This is because the apocalypse in The Walking Dead universe started in the early 2010s, around the same time as the original program’s premiere. Everything that has happened in our world after this date, therefore, did not occur in the series’ world. The use of songs released after 2010 has previously been flagged by fans as an inconsistency.
As a result, Queen Elizabeth II remained the sovereign and never passed her crown to the Prince of Wales. Season 3 of Daryl Dixon, however, does not go as far as explaining how the queen turned into a zombie. That’s a good thing, as it would have been overly morbid.
For the record, eight episodes are planned for this third season, and a fourth season has already been announced. But fans should also remember that this fourth season will be the final one. The series is offered exclusively each week on Paramount+.
