Jess Brownell, the showrunner of “Bridgerton”, is brimming with excitement for the upcoming fourth season but also confirms what we’ve all been dreading…
It’s official, Bridgerton season 3 has come to an end! Last week, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) made their final appearance as the season’s star couple. The second half of the third season wrapped up their beautiful love story, which saw them transition from friends to lovers, after fans patiently waited for the last four episodes.
But talks have already begun about which Bridgerton sibling will be next in line to receive their own narrative arc. Will it be the fan-favorite Benedict (Luke Thompson) or is Eloise (Claudia Jessie) ready to step into the spotlight?
The Waiting Game…
However, you should know that the wait will be long. Showrunner Jess Brownell gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, where she discussed season 4:
“I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re about to wrap up the season with the scripts. I feel like this is the best work I’ve done and the best work of my writing team. Our collaboration has really solidified and we’re operating at full throttle. I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have.“
“We’re trying to release the seasons faster, but it takes eight months to film them, then edit and dub them in all languages“, she continued. “And the writing also takes a lot of time, so we have a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.“
A Hint at the Season 4 Couple?
Bridgerton fans are very divided on social media. Will they be satisfied with the direction of the fourth season? “I think it’s hard to say. There are so many different wishes“, Brownell stated. “I think one of the couples will be very, very happy.“
Jess Brownell also paid tribute to the performances of past and present Bridgerton couples. “I’m very proud of how this season unfolded and I’m very grateful to the fans for sticking with us. Each season, the momentum gets stronger and we owe a debt to the actors from seasons 1 and 2, who helped generate the excitement. Additionally, I think Nicola and Luke have helped generate a lot of excitement.“
