Netflix has just added a 2022 science fiction series to its collection, consisting of only 6 episodes!
Following two unpredictable science fiction films, Netflix has discreetly introduced Moonhaven to its catalog. Unseen in French streaming, this American series was first aired in 2022 on the American platform AMC+. It caught our attention because it stars Dominic Monaghan, unforgettable as Charlie in another cult science fiction series: Lost.
What’s it About?
Set a 100 years in the future, Bella Sway, a lunar smuggling cargo pilot, finds herself charged with a crime and stranded in Moonhaven. This utopian community set in a 800 sq km Eden-like garden on the Moon aims to find solutions to problems that will soon end civilization on Earth.
As a skeptic in paradise, Bella, with the help of a local detective, needs to unravel a conspiracy to take over the artificial intelligence managing Moonhaven. Will she be able to stop the forces that seek to destroy Earth’s last hope?
Renewed… Then Canceled!
Moonhaven features Emma McDonald, Amaza Karan, Ayelet Zurer, and Joe Manganiello. The science fiction series was initially renewed by AMC but was later canceled due to budget cuts. Therefore, Netflix subscribers will have to make do with the available six short episodes.
Those who have already seen it during its broadcast on the Syfy channel in 2023 were somewhat taken by the proposal, although it would appeal to some enthusiasts of the genre:
“Small SF series, not too bad, the idea of a new Eden with intrigue. This series overall resembles ‘Terra Nova,’ more zen and without a dinosaur.” (Laurent B.)
“A good science fiction series with a great cast including Dominic Monaghan and Ayelet Zurer for a good time of action” (Julien Chevillard)
“We had a good laugh! Sure, there aren’t many special effects… sure, it’s not a big-budget series… but you can catch a ‘second degree’ humor” (Aline Wutrich)
“Good little SF series, quite current, it’s well done, I like the plot, the characters and the idea of the new Eden.” (Laurent P)
“If you like hippie sci-fi with a touch of sappy and marshmallow action, this series is for you. Otherwise, move along” (Victor Tuga)
Moonhaven is now available on Netflix.
