DeAnna Madsen, wife of actor Michael Madsen, has finally spoken up about an occurrence that led to her husband’s arrest on charges of domestic violence earlier this month.
On Sunday, DeAnna Madsen refuted claims made by a lawyer who previously spoke to The Times on behalf of the actor best known for his role in “Reservoir Dogs”. She clarified that the attorney no longer represents her husband and doesn’t have the authority to speak on behalf of him, herself, or their family. “He has no involvement in this incident,” she stated.

She also denied allegations made by attorney Perry Wander last week that she had unlawfully entered their shared Malibu residence. She asserted that she and Madsen jointly own the home in Malibu and are not living separately.
“While Perry Wander has acted as Michael’s legal counsel in the past, he is not the designated attorney for this particular situation,” confirmed Ron Smith, Michael Madsen’s talent manager, in an email to The Times on Monday.
When contacted by The Times on Monday, Wander claimed to have served as Madsen’s legal representative since 2008 and has been hired to advocate for him on various other issues. Madsen corroborated these details in an audio recording shared on Monday.
The lawyer had previously insinuated in a statement to The Times that DeAnna Madsen had unlawfully entered the actor’s Malibu residence. “This has been a recurring issue,” he stated.
Wander also revealed that Michael Madsen had asked him to secure a restraining order against DeAnna and to initiate divorce proceedings. However, he pointed out that the actor had been “procrastinating” due to the presence of a minor child in their family.
“Michael has exhibited remarkable compassion and self-control during this challenging time with his estranged wife. He is certainly not guilty of domestic violence,” asserted Wander.
In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter on Friday, Deanna Madsen said: “Michael is grappling with his own personal issues. Our children and I have been backing him to the best of our capabilities. We ask for privacy at this juncture.” She did not respond to an initial request for comment from The Times on Friday.
The star of the Quentin Tarantino film, aged 66, and his wife, aged 63, got married in 1996. They reportedly separated following the tragic suicide of their eldest son, Hudson, a 26-year-old former U.S. Army sergeant and Tarantino’s godson, in 2022. (DeAnna told The Times that they were not legally separated.) The couple has two other sons, Calvin and Luke. Michael Madsen also has a son, Christian, from a prior relationship.
According to information from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a domestic dispute call at Madsen’s Malibu residence around 12:15 a.m. on July 17. “The caller reported a woman alleging that her husband shoved her and locked her out of their house,” a public information officer informed The Times.
Based on the initial investigation, deputies concluded that the Madsens were involved in “a domestic incident” and he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor spousal battery. He was transported and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and released from custody at 9:12 a.m after posting $20,000 bail, according to online jail records.
Last week, the public information officer indicated that the investigation was still ongoing and would be submitted to the Van Nuys Superior Courthouse for processing. No further details were provided when the sheriff’s information bureau was contacted again on Friday.
As of Monday morning, no charges had been filed. However, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office confirmed on Friday that “a case is currently under review.”
