Just 24 hours after its release on Netflix, “Young Millionaires” has already secured the position of the second most-watched series currently. So, how did the viewers react?
On August 13th, Netflix launched Young Millionaires, its brand new French production. The platform teamed up with a showrunner it knows well and who has already achieved great success. After Family Business and Fiasco, Igor Gotesman is back with a buddy comedy, a topic he handles excellently.
His series follows Samia, Léo, David, and Jess, 5 childhood friends from Marseille who hit the lottery jackpot. But at 17, it’s impossible to cash the ticket… This is the first problem in a long series because winning big at this age also unlocks a flood of troubles. After all, one is not serious when they’re 17 and have 17 million!
This winning combination for Netflix has made Young Millionaires the 2nd most-watched show within 24 hours of its release, falling behind Mercredi. This 8-episode comedy, with each episode only lasting 30 minutes, is easy to binge-watch and makes us want to join this group of friends to experience their wild adventures.
Subscribers Enchanted
Entertaining, light, perfect for the summer. Despite some writing issues, Young Millionaires seems to be liked by Netflix subscribers, judging by the comments on the AlloCiné file and the first tweets posted on social network X:
“”Young Millionaires” on Netflix is wicked, the writing is poor, the acting too, BUT it’s very fun, so bad that it’s good, a must-watch.”
“A fresh series that you can watch without moderation. An extremely promising cast of young actors and a group of friends that reminds us of our own. Igor Gotesman’s universe is clearly recognizable in a mix between Five with highly relatable characters and Family Business with twists and turns at every corner! In short, I binge-watched everything in one morning with friends!” (Betsa26)
“I thought it was great!! Quite funny and very fresh, I watched it in one afternoon. I didn’t recognize any of the actors, they performed excellently, the group is very likable. It’s visually stunning and enjoyable to watch.” (Naco)
Initially presented as a mini-series (before this mention was removed from the site), Young Millionaires could very well become Netflix’s annual summer program. We are already looking forward to the announcement of its renewal for a second season.
