Breaking: Homelander’s Antony Starr Bids Shocking Farewell to The Boys – What’s Next?

As the release of season 5 of “The Boys” approaches, Antony Starr bids farewell to the series and the character that transformed his career.

For the past six years, The Boys has been one of the most popular series. With a rating of 4.4 out of 5 by viewers on AlloCiné, the series adaptation of the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, brought to life by Eric Kripke, is regarded as one of the top series of recent years.

This clever and insightful parody of superhero movies is set in a fictional world where supermen and women have been corrupted by fame and glory. A group of vigilantes named “The Boys” is trying to take down these once-beloved superheroes.

Among the super-villains, the most famous and most feared is none other than Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr. Already known to TV series fans thanks to Banshee, the New Zealand actor gained worldwide fame with the role of Homelander.

And after seven years of adventures, Antony Starr said goodbye to the character following the end of filming for the fifth and final season, which is set to premiere in 2026 on Prime Video.

Antony Starr (Homelander) Bids Farewell to “The Boys”

In a post on his Instagram account, accompanied by numerous behind-the-scenes photos, Antony Starr shared a few words to thank fans and all the teams of The Boys. He described this experience as the “highlight of [his] career”.

“When we started, I had no idea what was going to happen”, he wrote. “This behemoth left the station and never stopped. Except for that Covid moment. Oh, and the strikes. That was also an event. But other than those two times, it never stopped being strong, boldly marking the TV landscape. There is nothing like it. It lives on its own path”.

The New Zealand actor took the opportunity to salute his beloved character one last time: “This complex character has given me the space and opportunity to discover and push boundaries in a way that I never imagined, and I will always be grateful for this experience”.

He credits creator Eric Kripke for the design of this “strange and perverse” character: “We created a monster. And I’m going to miss him, and you too. Until the final season comes out”.

The last season of The Boys will mark a turning point for the series as it will bring a highly anticipated conclusion, especially for Homelander. Will he finally be defeated by the Boys? We’ll find out in 2026.

The first four seasons of “The Boys” are available on Prime Video.
