Check out the trailer for “House of Ashur”, a spin-off from the historical series “Spartacus”!
Fifteen years after the series first aired, the Spartacus universe is making a comeback on television. This ambitious historical drama from the early 2010s traced the story of the famous slave who led a rebellion brutally suppressed by the Roman army.
What will this new series be about?
Spartacus has remained very popular with the audience of its time, and others who have discovered it more recently. Now, Spartacus is set to return, not with a fourth season, but through a spin-off. Titled The House of Ashur, this new series will notably explore an alternate universe.
Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay), an ex-slave, is a well-known character among Spartacus fans. Killed in the second season of the original series, the character won’t be resurrected: instead, this spin-off will tell a parallel story imagining what his life could have been like had he survived.
The series will not be immediately available in France…
Now depicted as a wealthy businessman, Ashur hires a gladiator named Achillia to fight fierce battles in the arena on his behalf. Like the original series, this spin-off will blend scenes of violence, political intrigue, and graphic sensuality – three elements that made Spartacus a hit.
Fans are sure to welcome this new series with open arms. Unfortunately, they will have to wait a while to see it in France. The series is set to debut on the Starz platform in December, which is currently not available in France. No broadcaster for the French territory has been announced yet…
The entire Spartacus series can be found now on Lionsgate+, available as a paid option with a Prime Video subscription.
