MUST-WATCH
March 1st: Furies
This is the new French action series you can’t miss this year. Created by Yoann Legave and Jean-Yves Arnaud (Contact, Kepler(s)), Furies brings together an exceptional cast: Marina Foïs, Lina El Arabi, Mathieu Kassovitz, Jérémy Nadeau, Steve Tientcheu, Sandor Funtek, Eye Haïdara, and Quentin Faure.
The plot is as follows: A young woman seeking revenge for her father’s death finds herself entangled in the web of the Fury, the keeper of order within Parisian organized crime. Expect dirty tricks, bloody hand-to-hand combat, and plenty of twists and turns.
March 21st: The Three-Body Problem
This year’s must-see SF event, The Three-Body Problem, is an adaptation of the famous novel by Liu Cixin that describes humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization.
This new series is brought to you by the duo David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the showrunners of Game of Thrones, and the screenwriter and producer Alexander Woo (True Blood).
The Three-Body Problem’s cast includes Eiza González (Baby Driver), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), John Bradley, Liam Cunningham and Jonathan Pryce, all three seen in Game of Thrones, Rosalind Chao (Mulan), Ben Schnetzer (Y: The Last Man) and Eve Ridley (Casualty), among others.
HIGHLIGHTS
March 6th: Supersex
For her first series as creator, Francesca Manieri (screenwriter for We Are Who We Are, Anna, and L’Immensita) chose to focus on a controversial public figure: porn actor Rocco Siffredi, portrayed young by Saul Nanni and older by Alessandro Borghi.
In seven episodes, the Supersex series retraces the life and professional journey of the actor, telling about his childhood, his family, and his unique relationship with love, which led him to pursue a career in X-rated cinema.
March 7th: The Gentlemen
After the movie, here comes the series The Gentlemen! Screenwriter, director, and producer Guy Ritchie is back in the spotlight with a new gangster story starring Theo James (Divergent).
He plays Eddie Horniman, an aristocrat who suddenly inherits his father’s vast estate, only to discover that it’s part of a real cannabis empire.
He will have to confront dangerous figures of organized crime in Britain who want their share of the pie. Other notable names in the cast include Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian), Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch), Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck, 101 Dalmatians), Ray Winstone (Beowulf, The Departed) and Kaya Scodelario (Skins, The Maze Runner).
