Sci-Fi Series Star Almost Quit Day One – Delivers Year’s Best Performance Instead!

Aired last March on Prime Video, the science fiction series Fallout is among the year’s top productions. Actor Walter Goggins delivers an insane performance, despite initially not wanting to be part of the project…

With a rating of 4.3 out of 5 on AlloCiné, glowing reviews, record-breaking viewership on Prime Video and a confirmed second season, Fallout has definitely made a splash in the first quarter of 2024. This adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name has won over everyone with its rich and quirky universe, spotless casting and countless mysteries.

Walter Goggins made a strong comeback playing the Ghoul, a human who has endured radioactive fallout and has been wandering the wastelands for 200 years. Wearing an imposing prosthetic, the actor went through intense makeup sessions each morning, a process he found distressing as he explains in this interview:

“The costume was so hot. I could hardly see anything, I had lost my peripheral vision. I couldn’t hear much either. Swallowing became a challenge. After several minutes of putting it on, I sat down and thought, ‘I don’t think I can do this. Really. I’m too old for this crap.’

“Intense heat”, “exhausting”… Aaron Moten (Maximus) recalls the rigorous filming of the Amazon Prime Video series

Although it’s unclear who or what convinced Goggins to continue filming, the success of Fallout worldwide certainly makes it worthwhile. However, his ordeal is far from over as the series, helmed by Nolan, will return in 2025 or 2026, and Goggins will once again don his Ghoul costume.

What do we know about Fallout’s Season 2?

The second season of Fallout will take place in the Mojave Desert, with filming set to occur in California. Not much is known about the continuation of the series, so we can only speculate at this point.

The Prime Video series does not follow the plot of the video games, which feature different protagonists in each installment. However, the season 1 finale suggests that season 2 will take us to New Vegas.

This city, resembling a fortress with its walls, is at the heart of a power struggle among the Management (which seems to be hiding there), the Brotherhood of Steel, the New California Republic and a new antagonist, Caesar’s Legion. This totalitarian and violent regime is likely to cause trouble for our young heroine…
