Marvel’s Most-Loved Heroine Could Get Her Own Show 6 Years After Cancellation!

Jessica Jones, the Marvel heroine who originated on Netflix, may be next in line to have her own spin-off on Disney+.

Could there be a resurgence of Jessica Jones for a potential fourth season? We know the Marvel heroine – who already delighted fans with a robust storyline that first appeared on Netflix – will be featured in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. But there’s a chance this journey could extend further, and we might see Krysten Ritter reprising her role in her own series once again.

We’re going to do it

Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios, was recently asked during the Phase Hero podcast about when the character might be the subject of a revival project on Disney+: “It might happen sooner than you think“, Winderbaum stated.

When Ritter joined the podcast a little later, she also hinted that there was still much to explore with Jessica Jones now that she’s back in the MCU: “There are many things that I feel deserved to be explored, and Brad and I have discussed it. But I won’t reveal anything, because we’re going to do it“, the actress remarked.

Who is Jessica Jones, again?

Created by Melissa Rosenberg, Jessica Jones follows the main character played by Krysten Ritter, a former superhero turned private investigator, who starts her own detective agency, Alias Investigations, and strives to stop the villain Kilgrave (brilliantly portrayed by David Tennant).

Jessica Jones is the only other Marvel series, besides Daredevil, to last more than two seasons on Netflix, with three seasons of 13 episodes aired in 2015, 2018, and 2019.

The quiet revival of the Defenders

If Marvel is working on a new Jessica Jones series, it would be the studio’s third project featuring a major character from Netflix, following Daredevil (with Charlie Cox) and The Punisher (with Jon Bernthal).

The former is already in development for the third season of Born Again, while the latter is in production with a TV movie under the rather vague working title, Marvel Studios Special Presentation Punisher. Both are set to release in 2026 on Disney+.

The three characters will appear in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, but it’s currently unknown if they’ll share a scene together, as they did in The Defenders, the mini-series that brought everyone including Luke Cage and Iron Fist together.

The first trailer for the new season was unveiled to the audience at the recent New York Comic Con. It shows the return of Jessica Jones as well as footage of Daredevil fighting in his new costume. The season is set to premiere in March 2026 on Disney+.
