Norman Reedus HATED Filming These Scenes with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Walking Dead!

Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, despite being close friends off-screen, hated filming particular scenes together in the series “The Walking Dead”.

A documentary available on Paramount+ titled Daryl Dixon: The Return is set to delight fans of The Walking Dead. This documentary takes us back to the filming memories of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, who play Daryl and Carol in the horror series and its spin-off Daryl Dixon.

Daryl and Carol’s Actors Recall Their First Experiences

In a recent interview, they reminisced with great humor about their first meeting on the set of the series. Melissa McBride’s strong personality greatly appealed to Norman Reedus, and their friendship later inspired the writers to establish their iconic duo (originally, neither of the two characters was supposed to survive past season 1).

In this documentary, the two actors also recall filming the introductory sequence of Negan. The villain, portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, made his debut in season 7, in an unforgettable scene where he kills two of the protagonists – Abraham and Glenn – with his baseball bat named Lucille.

“The first time we shot with Jeffrey, he was perfect because he took his time to make us suffer, and he was immediately very intimidating”, recalls Norman Reedus. Melissa McBride then asks him if he enjoyed the scenes where Daryl is held captive by Negan, but his co-star gave a surprising response.

Don’t Mention Those Scenes to Norman Reedus!

Despite their friendship, Norman Reedus hated filming those scenes with Jeffrey Dean Morgan! “It was crap, I hated it! I couldn’t stand those sequences. First, they gave me my outfit, this awful old tracksuit, and then I had to clean up puddles of urine, it was terrible”, he responded.

While he admits to enjoying some of the dialogues, Norman Reedus seems to have only bad memories of this shoot. The worst part for him is the existence of merchandise featuring him in the uniform he despises so much. Fortunately for him, all this is now far behind as he is now the hero with Carol in his own series, while Negan continues his own adventures with Maggie in the spin-off Dead City.

Episodes of Daryl Dixon Season 3 are available each week exclusively on Paramount+.
