Leave it to Tarantino, to create something out of the box. His new creation is “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, and it is a gem that he created. Quentin Tarantino is a name revered for his gruesome portrayal of the real world. He interprets the real in a dark creative way that has the audience reeling.
Take his movie “Django Unchained” for instance, you see heads popping, blood smearing, and guns cocking. It is a typical Tarantino movie with blood and gore. Even though it does not bear the fan’s favourite tag like “Kill Biill” and “Pulp Fiction”.
But “Once Upon a time…… in Hollywood”, is Tarantino’s different way of creating things. It said the story of an actor’s dwindling fame, and his relationship with his stunt double in a Hippie culture era.
The movie became so popular that it sold about $40.4 million in tickets at the theatres in the United States and Canada from Thursday night to Sunday. It is a win for Tarantino, because its his second best after “Inglourious Basterds“ in 2009.
The opening might have a lot to do with having two of Hollywood’s biggest names being in the lead. That’s what helped give the movie a boost, despite its competing with “The Lion King”.
The story revolves around the professional relationship shared between a TV actor – Rick Dalton played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth played by none other than Brad Pitt.
What gives the movie a different touch is its portrayal of real life characters like the actress Sharon Tate. Also, Margot Robbie is the one who plays her role.
The movie is a must watch, because it has an unbelievable rating from Rotten Tomatoes. It has a 86% there. Plus, there is the review of A.O Scott on The New York Times which makes you watch it if you are indeed a movie buff. The review says- “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will stand as a source of debate and delight for as long as we care about movies.”
