Zoya Akhtar, recently, when asked about Gully Boy not making it to the Oscars, clearly said that it wasn’t supposed to in her opinion as the movie was watched by 10,000 America n critics. “It is upsetting in the sense that you say, ‘Oh s***t, it didn’t make it!’ It was disappointing, but what can you do? You move on to your next film,” stated Zoya. Further, when asked about the process, Zoya clearly stated, “We went through the entire process.”
Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy have been a film concepted around underground rappers. Both appreciated and criticized by a lot of people, the movie talks about their struggle and riches. Zoya further talked about the not-so-evolving system and said, “But one doesn’t know how the system works there. The people there are not fully aware either as the system keeps evolving. You have to rely on the publicists to guide you.”
She added, “The point is that Gully Boy has been seen by 10,000 America n critics. It has opened new doors not only for me but also for the industry, ” clearly depicting a huge level of appreciation that too in this moment of not being rewarded. Being not recognized in the Best Foreign Language Film category of Oscar surely has made the majority of the movie fans feeling bad.
Well, someone says or not, the film had definitely been a pleasure to watch and we hope for more such movies to be made and recognized as well.
