Bestselling Author of 90 Million Copies Unveils New Series: Your Next Obsession Awaits!

Prime Video has just released the first trailer for “Lazarus”, a thrilling series fresh from the mind of Harlan Coben, the king of crime novels.

Harlan Coben, the undisputed king of thrillers, has switched platforms from Netflix to Amazon for his first original series. This means that it’s not adapted from one of his novels but is a brand-new idea.

The author, who has sold 90 million copies worldwide, is stepping outside of his comfort zone with Lazarus, the first glimpses of which have just been unveiled by Prime Video. Coben closely collaborated with Danny Brocklehurst, his previous partner on projects like Safe, The Stranger, and The Five. If they can replicate the success of the latter – one of Netflix’s most-watched series of all time – then they’re guaranteed a hit.

What is Lazarus about?

Ever since his father’s suicide, Joel Lazarus has been plagued by strange visions he can’t explain. When a series of unsolved murders resurface, he realizes these events might be connected to his family’s tragic past — especially the brutal murder of his sister, 25 years earlier. The more he seeks answers, the more the line between reality and the unexplainable blurs…

Harlan Coben, who usually sets his adaptations in England or Europe, once again takes us across the pond and has cast some beloved British actors. Lazarus features Sam Claflin, a familiar face known for his roles in Hunger Games and Peaky Blinders. Bill Nighy (Harry Potter) and Alexandra Roach (Nightsleeper) round out the cast.

The Lazarus trailer is particularly gripping: the series promises to be darker than Coben’s previous works. While it deals with unsolved murders, we witness the main character’s descent into madness, convinced he is seeing the ghost of his father and other deceased individuals.

A fan of Harlan Coben, here’s why I’m disappointed with the Netflix series adapted from his books

Coben is tackling his favorite themes here (family, past traumas, lies) while adding a fantastical twist. We’re counting on Coben to keep us on the edge of our seats with twists, turns, and last-minute revelations. In short, enough to keep us engrossed for 6 episodes.

Mark your calendars for October 22 on Prime Video.
