Game of Thrones and X-Files Stars in Netflix’s New Western Series – First Trailer Drops!

Netflix has released the trailer for its new western series called “The Abandons”, from the creator of “Sons of Anarchy”.

By the end of the year, a new western series will make its grand debut on Netflix. Named The Abandons, this new show – whose twilight tone reminds us of Dawn of America, which aired last January on the platform – unveiled its trailer last night.

The story takes place in the 1850s. Two families that are diametrically opposed – one affluent and powerful, the other composed of destitute orphans – led by matriarchs (Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey) team up to confront injustice and corruption.

The series creator leaves his role during filming

The Abandons is the latest series from Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy. However, he left the project midway through filming due to creative differences with Netflix. This unexpected departure did not cause a delay: filming was able to continue under the guidance of new showrunners.

The series features a cast that includes its two leading ladies – Gillian Anderson (X-Files) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) – along with Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), Nick Robinson (Love, Simon), Lucas Till (the MacGyver reboot) and Lamar Johnson (The Last of Us).

Consisting of seven episodes, The Abandons will be exclusively on Netflix starting December 4th.
