Ripley’s Star DEMANDS Fans to Get Outside: You Won’t Believe What Happens Next!

Andrew Scott acknowledges the significant role that “Fleabag” played in his career. However, he finds it rather uncomfortable that the series’ fans remain heartbroken, five years after the conclusion of the show created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Andrew Scott has been in the limelight for years, particularly known for his depiction of James Moriarty in the successful BBC series, Sherlock. Since then, he has acted in major films such as Spectre and 1917, both directed by Sam Mendes. Currently, he’s garnering much acclaim for his performance in the drama “Without Ever Knowing Us,” alongside rising star Paul Mescal, as well as Jamie Bell and Claire Foy.

Nevertheless, his most talked-about role remains the “Hot Priest” from season 2 of Fleabag, the critically acclaimed series created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. His on-screen chemistry with the actress captivated fans, and their bittersweet, doomed romance – he is a priest after all – turned out to be the highlight of the show. Even five years after its conclusion, some fans are still grieving, and Andrew Scott has a special message for them.

The “Hot Priest” that made a difference

Let’s face it: Andrew Scott portrayed a remarkably charming character in the second season of the series. The first season had already won over audiences with its unique meta-humor that broke the fourth wall. But the introduction of the so-called “Hot Priest” in the second season added a fresh layer to the show – he seemed to be the only one aware of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s moments of direct camera address, even calling her out on it.

As fans will remember, the two characters didn’t end up together due to the priest’s devotion to God, a fact that left some fans disappointed and hoping for a happy ending for the potential couple. Five years on, they are still reeling from the characters’ farewell at the end of the series.

BBC Three

Andrew Scott recently reflected on the series’ success and his character’s popularity in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When asked about fans still feeling the impact, he advised them to stop feeling sad and move on. He also encouraged them to shake off their sadness and step out of their comfort zones.

Get out and get some fresh air! Stop crying in your room with the curtains drawn. Do something more fulfilling with your life. It’s a great show, we all love it, but come on now! Pull yourself together. Open the curtains and get out there.

Fleabag had a huge impact on audiences, and Andrew Scott is well aware of the show’s quality. Although incredibly sad, this ending was perhaps the best possible conclusion, both for the two characters and for the series. Let’s now move on, as the actor advises, who will soon appear in the spy film “Back in Action” by Seth Gordon, alongside Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, Jamie Foxx, and Glenn Close.

In the meantime, you can catch him in “Without Ever Knowing Us”, still showing in some remaining theaters. You can also discover him in the black-and-white psychological thriller miniseries “Ripley”, available on Netflix since April 4.

If you still cling to the past, however, Fleabag can be revisited in its entirety on Prime Video.
