On the upcoming 8th of October, Disney+ will be launching “The Disappeared at the Station”, its latest series event featuring Camille Razat, Hugo Becker, and Melanie Doutey. This series is based on a sorrowful real-life incident that shocked the city of Perpignan.
For several years now, TV series based on real-life incidents have been abundant on the small screen. Titles like Sambre, Oussekine, Laetitia, and Chernobyl are just a few examples of such series that have made a significant impact on the viewers in recent years.
Amidst a surge of such ambitious projects, Disney+ is all set to release “The Disappeared at the Station” on the 8th of October. This gripping miniseries had its first two episodes premier at the opening ceremony of the Fiction Festival of La Rochelle, attended by part of the team.
A Series Based on a Real-Life Incident
Created by Gaëlle Bellan, a writer known for her work on “The Bureau of Legends” and “Spiral”, “The Disappeared at the Station” delves into a series of three murders and a disappearance that occurred near the Perpignan station between 1995 and 2001.
The victims were women aged between 17 and 23, who disappeared following a specific pattern, leading investigators to suspect a serial killer. Eventually, two men were apprehended by the authorities.
Two weeks after the last murder in 2001, a family man confessed to killing the last woman, Fatima Idrahou. Thirteen years later, DNA tests implicated another family man in two other murders, those of Mokhtaria Chaïb (in 1997) and Marie-Hélène Gonzalez (in 1998).
Sadly, the disappearance of Tatiana Andújar, whose body was never found, remains unsolved even after all these years.
A Gripping and Moving Drama
By focusing on this case, which drew a lot of media attention, Gaëlle Bellan delivers a heart-wrenching drama that explores every aspect of this chilling investigation.
While the series mainly focuses on the police investigation and the group of investigators whose lives are forever changed by this case, it also gives due attention to the victims and their families.
“The Disappeared at the Station” highlights the relentless struggle of Marie-Josée Garcia, portrayed sensitively by Melanie Doutey, who for 30 years has been tirelessly searching for her daughter, Tatiana Andujar, who disappeared without a trace in 1995.
The cast also includes Camille Razat, known for her role in “Emily in Paris”, who plays Flore, a young policewoman navigating a male-dominated world. Her colleagues are played by Hugo Becker, Patrick Timsit, Kevin Azaïs, and Yannick Choirat.
With “The Disappeared at the Station”, Disney+ presents a riveting and realistic thriller that is bound to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Mark your calendars for the 8th of October to watch “The Disappeared at the Station” on Disney+.
